Colombo, July 16 (BAN/ AD): Starting 4 pm Tuesday Postal Services Union has decided to launch a 48-hour strike. If government does not resolve workers issues then union will be launching indefinite strike said Convener of Postal Services Union Chinthaka Bandara.
Union has launched strike for fulfilling 3 demands in recruitment, promotions, and salaries. Union says the Postal Services Ministry had compiled a cabinet paper to address the demands of employees, but it had not been approved even after the lapse of over 13 months.
The union demands the government to amend and approve the cabinet paper, abolish the program which plans to curb the rights of the postal employees and modernize the postal department.
The strike will be effective from 4pm Tuesday at the Colombo Central Mail Exchange and continue for 48 hours until 4pm on the 18th of July.
