Colombo, Oct 31 (BAN/ AD): Postal voting for 2019 Presidential elections began today and marking of postal ballots will take place today at a number of state institutions. A total of 655,915 state employees and members of tri forces and police are eligible to cast their postal vote for the election. Today and tomorrow Public sector employees can vote from 8.30 am to 4.15 pm at their official work place.
On November 4 and 5 Police officers can vote and those who fail to vote on both given dates, those can alternatively cast their postal votes on November 7.
People’s Action for Free and Fair Election (PAFFREL) Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi says more than 1,000 election observers have been deployed to monitor the postal voting. Police Headquarters has said a special security program will be implemented today and tomorrow for the postal voting.
Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that all police stations have been instructed on the arrangement by the police headquarters.
