26 abused housemaids return from Kuwait

Colombo, April 17: 26 women who had gone to Kuwait for employment have returned. The women were employed as housemaids who were abused by employers in Kuwait.

All together there were 26 women who have landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport on flight UL-230 at around 6:30 am. They had initially sought help from Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait regarding the issue following which arrangements were made to help them return to Sri Lanka.

All 26 women had travelled on using a temporary passport and had also spent huge amount for cost for the air fare. The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau, had however given money for their bus fare and an allowance upon arrival to the country.
