Abolishing Executive presidency police reiterated by President

Colombo, Sep 22 (BAN/ AD): President has said that he is willing to abolish Executive presidency but is not able to do so because of the parliament. He said at this point abolishing would be not appropriate as elections have been announced.

On Sunday he was addressing gathering at Matale district convention in Naula he made these remarks. Meanwhile, speaking of the false reports that his meeting with the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) inquiring the Easter Sunday attacks was not open to media as per his request, the President said although he had arrangements to disclose the meeting to media from the beginning to the end, the PSC had requested to close the session for the media.

The President said he had nothing to hide and that he had told them the truth about the relevant incident. Senior SLFP members including senior vice president Nimal Siripala de Silva, general secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara, general secretary of the UPFA Mahinda Amaraweera, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Thilanga Sumathipala, Shantha Bandara and Matale district organizer Lakshman Wasantha Perera and many others were present at the meeting.
