Dhaka, Oct 28 (BAN/ AD): Animal Lovers of Bangladesh (ALB) head Farzana Zaman has sued a man for killing a cat. The case has been filed against Rabbi Hasan, son of Anwar Hossain of Madanganj, with Bandar police station under the Animal Welfare Act 2019. Rabbi Hasan reportedly killed and hung a cat at Madanganj in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj.
The case has been filed with Bandar police station under the Animal Welfare Act 2019 by head of operation of Animal Lovers of Bangladesh (ALB) Shelter head Farzana Zaman. As per complaint filed a cat killed some pet pigeons of Rabbi on October 12 and October 23. Angry Rabbi hung the cat and posted the photos and video of the killing on his Facebook account which, later, went viral.
The team of ALB executives visited the spot, investigated the matter and then filed the case. ALB head said cats kill pigeons because it is their basic instinct but when a human being kills an animal that is a punishable offence.
Rafiqul Islam Officer-in-charge of Bandar police station said the accused went into hiding but they are trying to arrest him. Animal Lovers of Bangladesh (ALB) was set up by Dipanwita Ridi, a young and passionate animal lover. She took the initiative to run the shelter away from the capital to protect them from cruelties. It is now a home to stray cats and dogs.
