Antibiotics in milk: Researchers of Dhaka University new study

Dhaka, July 13 (BAN/ AD): Researchers of Dhaka University have once again found antibiotics in fresh samples of milk. The same research team had found traces of harmful substances in milk samples 3 weeks ago. Researchers of Dhaka University again claimed to have found traces of antibiotics in 10 samples of pasteurized and unpasteurized milk produced by several companies.

On Saturday Prof ABM Faroque, former director of Dhaka University’s Biomedical Research Centre issued a press release saying researchers have found antibiotics named: Oxytetracycline, Enrofloxacin, Ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin.

Researchers had tested milk of 5 brands, 7 samples of non-pasteurized milk last week and found antibiotics. Three of the 10 samples contained all the four antibiotics mentioned above while six of them had three antibiotics. Only one sample had one antibiotic.

Same team of researchers had found harmful substances in pasteurized milk products of the same five popular brands on June 25.
