Calido beach: 6 people saved by Navy from drowning

Colombo, July 15 (BAN/ AD): On Sunday 6 people have been rescued by Lankan Navy from drowning in seas off the Calido beach in Kalutara.

Local people had informed Navy’s Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) personnel deployed for lifesaving duty in the beach area that some people are drowning. The people were swimming in sea when they got stuck in rough sea condition.

Navy’s Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) personnel promptly responded to emergency and came to location on time and saved 6 drowning people. The rescued persons are residents of Kalutara aged 24 to 30 years. The Life saving teams is set up by Navy at beaches across coastline through out the day for helping tourists as well as locals.
