Colombo, Jun 11 (BAN/CD): At a function held in Akmeemana last Saturday, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said that politics may jeopardise the probes on Easter Sunday attacks.
“We see the difference of opinion with regard to investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks. Politicians sabotaging important investigations seems to be part of the Sri Lankan culture. Therefore, one cannot be satisfied with the investigations,” he said.
Cardinal Ranjith said that violence in Sri Lanka has made it a pool of blood and this is because of politicians creating such unfortunate situations.
“The Easter Sunday bombings do not seem to have been planned hastily. It looks like the attackers have been planning the carnage for several years. Therefore, it is vital to conduct thorough investigations to uncover the truth,” he said.
