Chittagong: 284 medical teams created for combating disasters

Chittagong, July 13 (BAN/ AD): The district administration of Chittagong has taken precautionary measures and a round-the-clock control room has also been set up to seek any help. A total of 284 medical teams are formed by the civil surgeon office to face any possible disasters caused because of heavy rains.

The civil surgeon office has set up a round-the-clock control room for any assistance. The phone number of the control room is 634843. The medical teams have been asked to remain on duty till further notice by Chittagong Civil Surgeon Dr Azizur Rahman Siddique. He said “Each upazila consists of five medical teams, while each union consists of one medical team.”

He also added “The medical teams will provide emergency medical services. Additional workforce has been kept on standby at Chittagong civil surgeon office to face any emergency.”

Apart from these measures 8 temporary shelters have been set up to deal with any landslide-related casualty. Chittagong district has 28 hills which are prone to landslides. Officials have also identified 835 families living in 17 hills who are vulnerable.
