Colombo, June (BAN /AD): On Friday court of Appeal has set July 26th to deliver a ruling on the appeal filed by former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Avant garde case. Gotabaya Rajapaksa had approached Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court asking to be acquitted and released from all charges in the case filed against him.
Appeal Court Justices Achala Vengappuli and Arjuna Obeysekera today (June 14) ordered to extend the interim injunction preventing the case being taken up before the Magistrate Court until July 26th.
The case was filed at the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court by the Bribery Commission against Gotabaya Rajapaksa and 7 others for permitting Avant Garde Maritime Services to operate a floating armoury which caused a loss of Rs. 11.4 billion to the Government.
