Dr. Michael Ryan of the World Health Organization stressed Friday that people should consider their settings – along with the length of time spent and level of activities – as key risk factors in the spread of the coronavirus.

He added that “all bets are off” for people who put themselves in overcrowded indoor spaces, where he said the virus can spread in a variety of ways, and that communities and authorities must work together to create safe areas.

The WHO also said on Friday (July 17) that it is forming a team of international experts to go to China to study the origins of the novel coronavirus, but that it will not be in place before the end of July.
