Colombo, Dec 11 (BAN/ AD): On Tuesday Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) ship ‘DD-102 Harusame’ arrived at the Port of Trincomalee and was welcomed in accordance with naval traditions. Japanese vessel is on a three-day goodwill visit.
Commanding Officer of the ship Commander Ohshima Teruhisa paid a courtesy call on Deputy Area Commander of the Eastern Naval Area, Commodore Sanjeewa Dias. Both exchanged mementos as a goodwill gesture and held discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation. Defense Attaché of the Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka, 1st Lieutenant Gaku Fukaura also attended the event.
The 151m long general purpose destroyer DD-102 Harusame has a displacement of 4550 tons and a complement of 165 officers and sailors onboard.
