Defense Secretary and Army Chief visit Zion Church in Batticaloa

Colombo, Aug 10 (BAN/ AD): Zion Church in Batticaloa which was damaged in the Easter Sunday attacks on April 21 is being rebuilt. Defense Secretary General (Retired) Shantha Kottegoda and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake visited the Zion Church in Batticaloa.

Defense Secretary Kottegoda and the Army Commander took stock of reconstruction work carried out by the soldiers of the Army Corps of Engineers. The Ministry of Housing and Cultural Affairs has allocated Rs. 28 million for the reconstruction of the church.

Defense Secretary General Kottegoda said rebuilding church is of top priority and will be completed soon. He also mentioned that security situation in Batticaloa is now peaceful and situation is normal now.
