DNA test ordered by court to verify death of Easter Sunday blasts mastermind

Colombo, May 11: Court has ordered a DNA test to verify the death of Zahran Hashim, before May 15 who was the ring leader of the local terror group NTJ which the government accuses of carrying out the Easter Sunday bombings which killed 258 people and injuring over 500.

Zahran Hashim, led the attack on the Shangri-La hotel and was accompanied by a second bomber identified as Ilham Ahmed Ibrahim. He was killed inside the hotel where he blew himself up. The Colombo Fort Magistrate also ordered the DNA verification of Ibrahim, the second bomber.

Totally 9 suicide bombers carried out a series of deadly blasts that rocked three churches and as many luxury hotels on April 21.Government has blamed National Thowheed Jammath (NTJ) for the bombings. The ISIS terror group claimed the attacks. Police said Zahran’s sister Madaniya would be subjected to a DNA verification. She is currently in custody at the eastern town of Batticaloa prison. The DNA test will be performed befor 15 may as per court orders.
