Colombo, Aug 10 (BAN/CD): The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigating into the Easter Sunday attack had frozen over Rs. 1.34 billion in cash and properties belonging to its ring leader Mohamed Zahran Hashim and other suspects, CID Director SSP Shani Abeysekara said yesterday.
He said Rs.1.34 million lying in 41 accounts and more than Rs.1 billion worth properties had been frozen accordingly.
SSP Abeysekara said these accounts and assets had been uncovered during the questioning of 63 suspects who were arrested after the attack.
Meanwhile, the Director said investigations are underway and that the arrested suspects are being questioned by detaining.
Earlier, police said that CID is investigating to locate assets worth Rs.7 billion belonging to the terrorist organization.
SSP Abeysekara said that according to the investigations Zahran Hashim and other bombers had not been linked to ISIS and had planned the bombing attacks within a short period of time.
