Easter Sunday attacks interim report to be handed over to President

Colombo, Dec 19 (BAN/ AD): President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa will be handed over interim report of the Presidential Commission inquiry into the terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday. On Thursday morning interim report will be submitted to President at the Presidential Secretariat.

The proceedings of the Commission will continue as usual. The commission was appointed by Former President Maithripala Sirisena on September 21st to investigate and report on the Easter Sunday attacks that killed 259 people in a series of suicide bombings in churches and hotels.

The commission had given people opportunity to lodge complaints related to the attacks. The five-member Commission headed by Court of Appeal Judge Janak de Silva comprises Court of Appeal Judge Nissanka Bandula Karunaratna and retired Court of Appeal Judge Nihal Sunil Rajapaksa and retired High Court judge Bandula Kumara Atapattu. Retired Ministry Secretary W.M.M. Adikari and retired Ministry Secretary Chandrani Senaratne will also serve the commission.
