Eid holidaymakers requested to take blood tests before heading home

Dhaka, Aug 8 (BAN/ AD): Dengue outbreak which is ravaging Dhaka has claimed 23 lives till now, Hence People who are heading home for Eid are requested to get blood test done. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has requested Eid holidaymakers to have their blood tested before leaving Dhaka.

Quader met PM on her return from London on Thursday, at a relief distribution event at Dhaka’s Dhanmondi 32.

23 people have succumbed to dengue till now. Among them, two have died in April, three in June, 15 in July, and three in August. However, the unofficial death tally stands at 70.

In 2019 32,340 people have been infected with dengue. 23610 have got treatment and 8,707 patients are currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined. Administration has taken necessary steps to curtail Dengue outbreak. Tk51.5 crore has been allocated to tackle dengue.
