Eid-ul-Azha to be celebrated across Bangladesh on August 12

Dhaka, Aug 2 (BAN/ AD): On Friday evening moon for the Islamic month Zilhaj was sighted. The second biggest festival of Muslims Eid-ul-Azha, will be celebrated across Bangladesh on August 12.

The date announcement was made by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah State Minister for Religious Affairs after a meeting at the Islamic Foundation in the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.

To commemorate the spirit of sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim Muslims across world celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha on the 10th of Zilhaj. On this day, some 4,000 years ago, Prophet Ibrahim had offered to sacrifice his son Ismail, who willingly submitted to the will of his father to please Allah. But the Almighty in His benign mercy spared Hazrat Ismail and instead sent a ram to be sacrificed.
