Explosive detectors worth Rs. 750 million donated by China

Colombo, Sep 27 (BAN/ AD): On Friday several equipment including weapons and explosives detectors worth Rs. 750 million was donated by government of People’s Republic of China. The equipment was handed over by the Chinese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Cheng Xueyuan to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena at his office.

Three robotic machines which can detect explosives and drugs within the range of 3km are valued at Rs. 85.5 million each. The three explosive detectors worth Rs. 90.5 million each and also 50 X-ray Security Inspection systems to search parcels and luggage. The total value stands at Rs. 210.5 million.

Apart from this 25 Walk-Through Safety Inspection Gates worth Rs. 6.5 million and 25 Hand Held Vehicle Scanners, which can be used to scan the vehicle and instantly detect concealed explosives and weapons. Its total value is 3.2 million.

500 Hand Held Metal Detector Machines worth Rs. 2.75 million have also been donated.A Chinese government delegation was present on the occasion.
