Feni: Child sold for Tk 50,000 to repay loan by mother

Feni, Oct 01 (BAN/ AD): In a shocking case in Feni child was sold by mother to repay loan of Tk 50,000. Mother also tried to file a false case over the incident. The woman after failing to repay loan of Tk 50,000 sold off 11 month old son and approached Feni police to file case of abduction. A woman has been arrested in Feni.

After preliminary investigation Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested two more women related to the case. On Monday afternoon Feni model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain filed a case against 3 women.

Early Monday 11 month old child was rescued from Kalaraita village of Senbagh upazila in Noakhali by Feni DB police, who were investigating the abduction case. The information was confirmed by DB Inspector Ranjit Kumar Barua. The 3 arrested woman are Rehana Akter, mother of the child, Parvin Akter, both residents of Nangalkot upazila in Comilla; and Parvin’s sister Mafia Akter, of Kalaraita village.

Mother claimed in complaint that Rehana her youngest son was kidnapped in Mohipal area of Feni town on her way to her father’s house in Feni from Nangalkot on Sep 20. In investigation Rehana admitted she sold the baby to Parvin only to repay her loan. Relatives of Rehana said she borrowed Tk50,000 from a local cooperative society.
