Kilinochchi: Army releases 150 acres land to the rightful owners

Colombo, Oct 19 (BAN/ AD): On Friday Army has released additional 150.15 acres of land in Kilinochchi, which was used by Army for service requirements to the State and private owners. The ceremony was attended by Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva during his visit to the Security Force Headquarters.

Army sources say there has been no compromise by releasing the Kilinochchi land and has been in line with the Presidential Secretariat’s policy of releasing land that does not belong to the Army in the North and East.

As per documents related to 139.56 acres of state land and 10.59 acres of private land, hitherto being used by 57 Division and 3 Gajaba Regiment troops in Kilinagar Grama Seva sector of the Karachchi Divisional Secretariat and in Ampakamam Grama Seva sector in the Oddusudan Divisional Secretariat area were formally handed over by the Commander of the Army to Mr S Arumainayaham, Kilinochchi District Secretary and Mr T Akilan, Oddusuddan Divisional Secretary during the ceremony at the SFHQ-KLN.
