Korean government grants US $ 10.96 Million to support Lankan tourism industry

Colombo, Jan 16 (BAN/ AD): Ambassador of Korea to Sri Lanka, Heon Lee, has said that a grant of US $ 10.96 Million will be provided to support Lankan tourism industry. The grant details were given during a meeting between the Minister of Industry, Export, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and the Korean Ambassador.

Korean Government will provide a grant of US $ 5.6 million for the development projects of the community-friendly tourist village in Etanwala, Matale and US $ 5.36 million to develop the Kuchchaveli Tourism Zone.

Ambassador of Korea also told Minister Ranatunga that Korean businesses are willing to invest in Sri Lanka with the security situation prevailing in the country since President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa assumed office.

Sri Lankan tourism has declined following the Easter Sunday attack. Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said new government is keen to improve bilateral relations with Korea.
