Lankan state female employees get new dress code

Colombo, Jun 5 (BAN/CD): According to the Ministry of Public Administration and Disaster Management states that steps have been taken to amend the circular which makes it mandatory for women to wear the Sari or Osari, which is the official government attire, for female employees

Last Friday, May 31, Secretary of the Ministry J. Rathnasiri signed and issued the circular, which also required men to wear shirt/trouser or the national dress.

Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Minister of Public Administration and Disaster Management, noted that a decision has been taken to amend the circular and reissue it.

Sea surge warning by Met Dept

The Meteorology Department warned of the possibility of the sea surging along the coastal areas of Mannar to Hambantoa via Colombo and Galle.

The sea surge could rise up to 2.5-3 metres in height due to the effect of swell waves, the Department said.

The naval and fishing communities, and also those who live along the coast have been asked to remain vigilant in this regard by the Department.
