Local female Swiss Embassy employee appears before CID for a third time

Colombo, Dec 10 (BAN/ AD): Criminal Investigations Department on Tuesday questioned the local female Swiss Embassy employee, who was allegedly abducted and questioned by an unidentified group for a third time to record a statement.

Garnier Banister Francis arrived at the CID on Sunday and Monday as well to give a statement on the alleged abduction. She also underwent a forensic medical examination on the orders of the Colombo Magistrate Court to ascertain whether she had been assaulted or sexually abused. Her travel ban has been extended till Dec 12 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The complaint filed by Swiss Embassy on 27 November mentions the woman was abducted by five persons in a white car near the St. Bridget’s Convent in Cinnamon Gardens on 25th November. According to the complaint, the female officer was abducted, sexually assaulted and questioned about granting visa to CID inspector Nishantha Silva. After checking her phone and detaining for few hours the victim was released, the complaint said.
