Main accused in Badda mob lynching Hridoy remanded

Dhaka, July 24 (BAN/ AD): Prime suspect in Badda mob lynching case Ibrahim Hossain Hridoy has benn sent on 5 day remand by a Dhaka court. On Wednesday remand order was passed by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jasim. Police had produced him before the court and asked for 10-day remand. Police arrested 19-year-old Hridoy from Bhulta area in Narayanganj on Tuesday.

Hridoy is a vegetable vendor and used to live in Hazipara area in North Badda as per police sources. On July 20 Taslima Begum Renu, 40, a single-mother of two, was beaten to death by a mob in suspicion of being a child abductor, in front of North Badda Government Primary School. A video which went viral on social media after incident shows Hridoy beating Renu brutally.

Another court on Monday, placed the other three accused in the case, Bachchu Miah, Shahin and Bappi, on four-day remand. On that same day, another accused named Zafar gave confessional statement before court and was sent him to jail. The case was filed against 400- 500 unknown people by Renu nephew Nasir Uddin.
