Man who rearranged van seats, found near St. Anthony’s Church, arrested: Police

Colombo, May 18 (BAN) : Suspected individual who has found rearranging seats of a white van parked near St. Anthony’s church in Kochchikade has been arrested by CID officers

The suspect, identified a Muhammad Adam Lebbe was arrested in New Kattankudy on Tuesday(14), said police spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara. He is being questioned under CID custody.

Several suspects who have been linked to the St. Anthony church terror attacks have been arrested but many still remain at large, said the spokesperson.

The van filled with explosives was found parked near the church on April 22 and was neutralized by the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Special Task Force through a controlled explosion.

Sketches drawn on the basis of information received by four different eyewitnesses have aided in the arrest of the suspect.

The van(WP-PJ 4080) belonged to a man named Mohamed Azam Mohammed Mubarak, “Abdullah”, who detonated a bomb at Kingsbury Hotel, said SP Gunasekara. The CID has revealed that along with the suspect and van owner, another person was also involved in rearranging the van’s seats.
