Sri Lanka: The government have been asked to launch an investigation into statements made by Deputy Minister Buddika Pathirana reporting that some companies were selling animal oil mixed milk powder in the market.
On Tuesday in Parliament, Industries, Trade and Commerce Deputy Minister Pathirana stated that some milk powder importing companies import a mixture of lactose powder and animal oil and sell them in the local market as milk powder.
MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane reported at a news briefing that a company which is related to a minister was behind this crime. He told the new conference “Special attention should be paid to this incident and to ban all these substance which are unsuitable for human consumption. These products should be removed from the market immediately.”
