Dhaka, July 17 (BAN/ AD): Moazzem Hossain former officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonagazi police station bail plea has been rejected by Dhaka HC and fixed July 31 for recording deposition of witnesses. A Dhaka court has framed charges against him in a case filed over illegally recording Feni Madrasah student Nusrat’s statement and making it public online.
On Wednesday Cyber Tribunal Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain framed the charges after rejecting bail plea of Moazzem. After the charge framing, the court fixed July 31 for recording deposition of witnesses under this case.
Moazzem bail plea was submitted by Defence lawyer Dr. Khandaker Mohammad Musfiqul Huda. Moazzem was brought to court by police around 2.00pm. he was arrested 20 days after warrant was issued against him on June 16. A case was filed against him under Digital Security Act for illegally recording statement of Nusrat and spreading the video.
The former Sonagazi OC is accused of summoning Nusrat and questioning her about the incident and recording the whole incident in absence of any lawyer or female police. He had asked her indecent questions and later posted the video on social media.
