Colombo, Oct 14 (BAN/ AD): On Sunday nation’s first cable car project Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed which will be built in Nuwara Eliya. In presence of Minister of Plantation Industries Navin Dissanayake relevant agreement was signed at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council premises.
In July 2019 cabinet approval was given to the US$50 million cable car project in Nuwara Eliya to promote the Tourism Sector. It is expected to further enhance the tourist attraction through the cable car project and earn a higher income.
Due to its high elevation and natural beauty Nuwara Eliya has been chosen to commence the cable car project as a further step towards increasing the tourist attraction in the area. The cost of project is around US$ 50 million is to build a cable car system on 21 towers connecting Nanu Oya train station, Nuwara Eliya race Course and the Single Tree Mountain.
