London July 27 (BAN/MP) Two teenagers have been arrested following an operation in south west London.

The Violence Suppression Unit in the South West Basic Command has arrested two teenagers in Wandsworth on suspicion of robbery offences.

The officers were conducting a proactive operation on Friday, 24 July targeted at knife-point robberies around Wandsworth Common.

Following a short foot chase officers arrested a 16-year-old boy [A] and second boy [B] – aged 15 years old – both on suspicion of criminal damage and assault of an emergency worker.

Police Sergeant Tim Willers, from the SW VSU, said: “There is no doubt in my mind that these individuals were out to commit robberies and target those teenagers on the common who were out to meet their friends.

“We will continue to target and disrupt violence from occurring with operations such as this – which without, could have been a significant night of robbery and violent crime.”

The youths are currently in police custody.
