Colombo, Aug 26 (BAN/ AD): As presidential elections are nearing People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) the election watchdog has requested vitizens to ensure that their name is included in the electoral register. The National Election Commission has already announced new electoral register is on display from Friday, August 23.
2019 updated electoral register can be accessed at Grama Niladhari offices, Divisional Secretariats and District Secretariats Island wide. The Elections Secretariat said that the electoral register could be checked through the website of the Election Secretariat.
Citizens above age of 18 can verify online by using national ID number as announced by the Elections Secretariat. Whose names are missing can immediately notify the relevant election offices. Only the voters whose names are in the electoral register for 2019 will be eligible to vote for future elections.
