PM Hasina assures fast tracking of Abrar’s murder case

Dhaka, Oct 14 (BAN/ AD): The sensational murder case of Buet student Abrar Fahad will be fast tracked as PM Hasina has issued directives to the law minister. On Monday afternoon family members of Abrar Fahad, who was killed in a dormitory of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) on October 7, met PM at Ganabhaban.

They included Abrar’s father Barkatullah, mother Rokeya Khatun, and brother Abrar Faiyaz Sabbir, paternal uncle and maternal uncle ass per reports. After the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.

During the meeting Abrar’s mother Rokeya Khatun expressed profound gratitude to the prime minister. She said “I have no language to express gratitude for the motherly role you played after the incident.”

The prime minister said “The killers are killers and criminals are criminals … I did not see who belonged to which party.” Abrar, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the university, was tortured to death inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 7.
