Dhaka, July 12 (BAN/ AD): As rape case have risen in past few months PM has said tougher laws will be passed to prevent rape and also urged media to show rapists’ photos repeatedly. She also said such a heinous crime can never be acceptable.
PM said “It is necessary to frame more strict laws against rape and give stringent punishment for it… such a heinous crime is never acceptable.” The parliament session was chaired by Speaker of the House Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.
PM warned anyone involved in such crimes and also stressed that government will be taking stringent steps with this regard. PM added “We will take necessary measures against those who commit such a crime.”
Media houses were urged to expose the rapists to the country. She said “I urge those involved in print and electronic media to show the pictures of the rapists time and again so they[the rapists] feel shame for committing this crime.”
In recent months minors have become more vulnerable to rape incidents with 332 incidents reported between April and June.
