Colombo, Sep 16 (BAN/ AD): On Monday morning PM Ranil Wickremesinghe will testify over the complaint regarding the lease of the Agriculture Ministry building before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) which is investigating corruption and malpractice of the government at the BMICH.
PM was issued notice by the Presidential Commission to give testimony in connection with an ongoing investigation into the leasing of the DPJ towers at Battaramulla which houses the Ministry of Agriculture.
Ministry of Agriculture had got lease of DPJ building for a monthly rent of Rs. 21 million after it vacated its premises in Battaramulla in 2015. The proposal was put forth by PM to use the building for the activities of 17 Parliamentary Sectoral Oversight Committees
Secretary to the Prime Minister Saman Ekanayake and former Minister of Agriculture Duminda Dissanayake had been questioned by the Commission previously regarding the lease agreement signed between the Agriculture Ministry and DP Jayasinghe company for a total cost of Rs. 1.3 billion.
