Colombo, May 28 (BAN/ AD): Sirisena has assured that emergency could be lifted within a month. He said while meeting a group of foreign ambassadors. President said the state of emergency was extended due to the search operations conducted by the military and assured it would not be required to be extended further.
Country is going through a though phase after Easter Sunday attacks which killed around 250 people. President thanked the envoys for the intelligence expertise and cooperation provided and expressed confidence that with the assistance of foreign expertise on intelligence, the threat of terrorism could be eliminated.
President also urged the foreign envoys to continue to provide economic assistance and lift the travel advisories issued to tourists. Tourism has been hit in Sri Lanka after Easter attacks which killed 258 people including 45 foreigners.
