President warns against cheating Hajj pilgrims

Dhaka, July 02 (BAN/ AD): President Abdul Hamid while inaugurating the Hajj program-2019, at the Hajj Camp in Dhaka’s Ashkona area, in the afternoon on Tuesday has warned against cheating Hajj pilgrims. He has said strict action will be taken against negligence, irregularities, and corruption in Hajj management saying that individuals, agencies, and institutions involved in such practices will be punished.

He said “You [agencies] make profit from Hajj pilgrims. Do not cheat them. It is a sensitive issue.” He asked authorities to take action against persons involved in negligence, irregularities, and corruption in Hajj management.

President said “”More than 95% Hajj pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia with Hajj agencies. From earlier experiences, it has been seen that many agencies do not keep their end of the bargain after they [the pilgrims] reach Mecca-Madina. As a result, the pilgrims have to face trouble.” He also added “Such activities hurt the country’s image. Such fraudulence with the pilgrims is not desirable.”
