Purushottampriyadas Swamiji Maharaji, Swaminarayan sect head in Gujrat Kutch critical with COVID-19

Ahmedabad July 15 (BAN/SL) The spiritual head of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, Purushottampriyadas Swamiji Maharaji (P P Swaminiji) tested positive for COVID-19 and has been in hospital for the past two weeks.

Bhagwat Priyadas Swami of Maninagar Swaminarayan temple said “He is in severely critical condition and has been put on a ventilator”

Eleven sadhus belonging to one of the divisions of the Swaminarayan sect, from the temple in Maninagar area in Gujarat, tested positive for coronavirus over the first week of July, a health official said earlier in the week.

P P Swamiji born in May 1942 , in a town in Kutch called Bharasar, Swami was initiated on March 21. 1962 by Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa at the Swaminarayan temple in Maninagar. He is the fifth ancestry heir of ascetic Acharyas, descending directly from Lord Shree Swaminarayan. He is the direct rightful spiritual leader and has spearheaded his work.

Being affiliated to over 250 temples his followers around the world are praying for his recovery. He has superheaded his work to build a memorial called Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Smruti Mandir in Ghodasar, Ahmedabad. This marble temple describes and tells the story of Jeevanpran Swamibapas service to society through unique architecture, sculptures and art. During his time he has opened schools, colleges, hostels, hospitals, clinic and rehabilitation centres for his community and everyone else.
