Dhaka, Aug 10 (BAN/ AD): Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has has assured that there wont be traffic congestion, but vehicles are moving slowly on highways. He admitted train delays.
He blamed the cattle-laden vehicles for traffic congestions on highways, and not the bad road conditions.
Quader said “Neither dilapidated road conditions nor lack of coordination by Road Transport Department are responsible for tailbacks. There’s no long tailback on highways, but vehicles are moving slowly, no one can deny that.”
He warned transport companies strict action if commuters charged extra fare. He added “We are taking action after getting complaints about additional fare. Some people involved in the practice have already been detained.”
