Recoveries outnumber new Covid cases in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Feb 26 (IANS) Reversing the trend of the last four days, 947 patients recovered from Covid-19 in Karnataka to outnumber 453 new cases reported from across the state, the daily health bulletin said on Thursday.

“With 947 patients discharged earlier in the day, recoveries rose to 9,31,725 till date, while 453 new cases increased the state’s Covid tally to 9,49,636, including 5,576 active cases,” the bulletin said.

The infection, however, claimed seven lives in the state, including four in Bengaluru and one each in Kalaburagi, Mandya and Udupi districts, taking the state’s death toll to 12,316 since the pandemic broke out on March 8 last year.

In Bengaluru, 271 fresh cases were registered on Wednesday, taking the city’s Covid tally to 4,04,628, including 3,887 active cases, while recoveries rose to 3,96,274, with 759 patients getting discharged in the last 24 hours.

Of the 121 patients in the ICUs, 56 are in Bengaluru hospitals and 10 in Kalaburagi, with the rest spread in the remaining 29 districts across the southern state.

Out of the 68,166 tests conducted during the day, 4,847 were through rapid antigen detection and 63,319 through the RT-PCR method.

Positivity rate for the day was 0.66 per cent and case fatality rate was 1.54 per cent across the state.

Meanwhile, 19,062 healthcare workers and frontline warriors were vaccinated during the day, accounting for 31 per cent of the 61,517 registered beneficiaries across the state.

Cumulatively, 7,86,404 Covid workers and warriors have taken the shot across the state since January 16, achieving 77 per cent of the targeted beneficiaries.

Bengaluru, Feb 13 (IANS) Reversing the trend, 405 recoveries outnumbered 280 new Covid cases in Karnataka in a day while 7 patients succumbed to the infection, said the state health bulletin on Friday.

“With 405 patients discharged during the day, recoveries increased to 9,26,234, while 380 new cases on Thursday rose the state’s Covid tally to 9,44,437, including 5,925 active cases,” said the bulletin.

Of the 7 deaths due to the virus, 6 were in Bengaluru and one in Dharwad, taking the state’s toll to 12,259 since the pandemic broke in mid-March 2020.

In Bengaluru, 194 fresh cases were registered on Thursday, taking its Covid tally to 4,01,517, including 3,926 active cases, while 3,93,166 recovered, with 181 discharged in the last 24 hours.

Of the 137 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs), 66 are in Bengaluru hospitals and 13 in Kalaburagi, with the rest spread in the remaining 29 districts across the southern state.

Out of 68,993 tests conducted during the day across the state, 3,573 were through rapid antigen detection and 65,420 through RT-PCR method.

Positivity rate was 0.55 per cent and case fatality rate 2.10 per cent across the state on Thursday.

Meanwhile, 4,08,424 healthcare workers have been vaccinated till Friday out of 8,20,791 registered beneficiaries, achieving 50 per cent of the target so far.

Similarly, 81,430 frontline workers took the shot, out of 2,86,562 registered beneficiaries, achieving 28 per cent of the target till date./Eom/235 words.

Bengaluru, Feb 10 (IANS) Maintaining the trend, 513 recoveries outnumbered 366 new Covid cases in Karnataka in a day, while only 2 deaths due to the infection occurred in this tech city, said the state health bulletin on Tuesday.

“With 513 patients discharged during the day, recoveries rose to 9,25,167, while 366 new cases on Monday increased the state’s Covid tally to 9,43,212, including 5,785 active cases,” said the bulletin.

Only 2 patients died due to the virus in Bengaluru Urban district, taking the state’s death toll to 12,241 and the city’s toll to 4,408 since the pandemic broke out in March 2020.

“No casualties related to the coronavirus were reported from any of the remaining 30 districts across the southern state,” claimed the bulletin.

In Bengaluru, 195 fresh cases were registered on Monday, taking the city’s Covid tally to 4,00,887, including 3,763 active cases, while 3,92,715 recovered till date, with 326 discharged in the last 24 hours.

Of the 143 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs), 71 are in Bengaluru hospitals and 10 in Kalaburagi, while the rest are spread in the remaining 29 districts across the state.

Out of 60,485 tests conducted in the day, 4,589 were through rapid antigen detection and 55,896 through RT-PCR method.

Positivity rate for the day was 0.60 per cent and case fatality rate was 0.54 per cent across the state on Monday.

Meanwhile, 3,276 healthcare workers were vaccinated across the state, achieving 22 per cent of the target though 1,02,273 registered for the shot.

In Bengaluru, 3,276 took the jab, accounting for 18 per cent of 17,802 registered beneficiaries.

Gadag district registered highest percentage (59) of vaccination with 918 of the 1,546 registered warriors taking the shot, while lowest percentage (7) was in Bidar district, with only 245 of the 2,719 targeted workers given the vaccine.

Bengaluru, Feb 2 (IANS) With 470 patients discharged in a day, recoveries outnumbered 388 new Covid cases in Karnataka, said the state health bulletin on Monday.

“Recoveries rose to 9,21,592, with 470 discharged in the last 24 hours, while 388 new positive cases on Sunday increased the state’s Covid tally to 9,39,775, including 5,944 active cases,” said the bulletin.

With three patients, including two in Bengaluru and one in Dakshina Kannada district succumbing to the infection in the day, the state’s death toll rose to 12,220.

In Bengaluru, 201 fresh cases were registered on Sunday, taking the city’s Covid tally to 3,99,087, including 3,780 active cases, while recoveries rose to 3,90,913, with 246 discharged in the day.

Of the 145 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs), 68 are in Bengaluru hospitals and 13 in Kalaburagi, with the rest spread over in the remaining 28 districts across the southern state.

Out of 53,316 cases tested during the day, 2,195 were through rapid-antigen detection and 51,121 through RT-PCR method.

Positivity rate was 0.72 per cent and case fatality rate 0.77 per cent on Sunday across the state.

“Anti-Covid vaccination drive remains suspended till February 3 due to the pulse polio programmes across the state since Sunday,” added the bulletin.

Bengaluru, Sep 14 (IANS) With 8,865 persons getting discharged on Monday, recoveries outnumbered 8,244 new Covid cases across Karnataka, while 119 succumbed to the dreaded virus in the last 24 hours.

“With 8,244 new cases, the state’s Covid tally rose to 4,67,689, including 98,463 active cases, while 3,61,823 persons have been discharged till date, including 8,865 during the day,” the state health department bulletin said.

With 119 deaths in the last 24 hours, the state’s toll has risen to 7,384 since March 9, when the pandemic broke out.

Bengaluru Urban, which is the epicentre of coronavirus in the southern state, reported 2,966 fresh cases, taking its tally to 1,73,628, including 40,527 active cases, and 1,30,627 discharges. With 37 fatalities during the day in the city, its death toll rose to 2.473.

Among other districts, Mysuru reported 677 new cases, followed by Dakshina Kannada (413), Davangere (325), Hassan (295), Bengaluru Rural (275) and Ballari (264).

Belagavi recorded 533 discharges, the highest among the districts, followed by Hassan (332), Dakshina Kannada (297), Shivamogga (282), Ballari (274) and Dharwad (248).

“About 800 Covid patients are in the ICU across the state, including 263 in Bengaluru Urban district, 106 in Hassan, 67 in Dharwad, 44 in Ballari and 40 in Kalaburagi,” said the bulletin.
