Colombo, July 15 (BAN/ AD): On Sunday PM was aspeaking at the opening of the Kinniya Central College auditorium where he said intelligence reports on Easter Sunday bombings had not substantiated any allegations against former Minister ACMC Leader Rishad Bathiudeen linking him to the bombings. PM said some people are trying to reject parts of the report produced by the intelligence agency about the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday.
He said it is not right to accecpt some part of report and reject other part selectively.
“There were 300 complaints and those complaints were baseless. Therefore, there are no charges against the former Minister.” PM said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the Army Commander while giving evidence before the PSC had said that Rishad Bathiudeen did not exert any influence on him. He said the Intelligence report had been forwarded to Speaker Jayasuriya and the Attorney General and they will do the needful.
PM told “That report was given to us by the Speaker. The report contained 300 charges. It said the majority of these allegations were made without any basis. It also stated that some of the complaints have nothing to do with the allegations. At the hearing of the case, the lawyers representing the suspects stated that the report was totally unacceptable. Certain forces do not accept this report and it could lead to weaken the evidence and set the conditions for real terrorists to escape. It invalidates intelligence investigations carried out over two months.”
