Colombo: As first term of Maithripala Sirisena is coming to end he is planning to run for a second term in office, Although he had taken vow not to continue for a second term. On Tuesday he completed four years in power.
When he became president in January 2015 with a mandate from 6.4 million voters, Sirisena voluntarily pledged that he would not stand for a second term in office when his five-year tenure ended.
His contest was confirmed by Azath Salley, governor of Sri Lanka’s Western Province.
