Tired of fighting against the selection committee: Malinga

Colombo, Jun 30 (BAN/CD): Stating that he is tired of fighting against the selection committee, their proceedings and the harm they have caused to the game, Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga speaking on his decision of retiring from international cricket with the BBC Sinhala service.

He further said that he hopes to participate in the T20 World Cup but that he must first speak to the board regarding the matter.

He continued to say that he feels bad to walk out at a time when the team has to play to at least qualify. The cricketer added that if his vision about the world cup and their (select committee) vision tallies that he will reconsider his decision and that if not he would retire from cricket very soon.

He said that he would like to pursue playing one more ODI representing the country before his retirement and since he and Nuwan Kulasekara had played the game for ten years that he hopes Kulasekara too will get the opportunity to play the match, speaking about his plans to retire from cricket one day.

He continued to say that since he was ranked the number one bowler by the ICC that he would like to retire with him in the same match.

The cricketer added that if everything goes as plans that his cricket journey will come to an end after the upcoming Bangladesh or New Zealand tours.
